The family I grew up babysitting for taught me the word ‘surcee’. One of the most memorable surcees they gave me was a cellophane bag of the pink + red Starbursts (picked out by the kids because pink + red were my favorite flavors). Nearly 20 years later, I still remember finding that bag of sweets in my mailbox.
Given my deep love for surcees and my continued work to educate the masses by answering DMs – “Wait, what’s a surcee?” “How do you pronounce ‘surcee’?” (pronounced: Sir-Sea), “What are some good surcee ideas for <insert specific situation here>?” – I thought it would be fun to do a little Valentine’s Surcee Swap in our little corner of the internet.

The Gameplan:
Step One: Complete THIS FORM by Friday, January 22 if you want to participate.
Step Two: You will get your swap partner’s info on Monday, January 25.
Step Three: Use the info to gather a box full of treats (total value: $15-$20) and package them up. There isn’t a rule of thumb for what this looks like. I’ve never done this before. Use your resources as available (take a peek at their IG). Use the answers to their questions to help you with your surcee selecting – a cute travel mug for someone who loves coffee. A fun sheet mask for someone who loves beauty products or really needs to relax. Candy and treats are always a good idea. Get creative. And I know a hand-written note is never a bad move.
Step Four: Ship your Surcee Swap box out by or before February 8th! I love shipping things via PirateShip with my kitchen scales and a tape measure (for the box). Depending on size and shape, USPS Flat Rate boxes are also handy.
I do hope that this swapping of love and happiness in small paper packages tied up with string (or at least sealed with tape and a few stamps) spreads a bit of joy during this Valentine season.
