It was a balmy 88 in North Carolina today and the forecast for the rest of the week is more of the same. So while summoning fall seems a bit premature based on Mother Nature’s plans, I’m more than ready for it. Perhaps the swapping of surcees will move things along?
For our second ever surcee swap, we’re going to think fall + love and cozy wishes. Unfamiliar with the term “surcee”? It’s pronounced: ‘Sir-Sea’ and you can happily get more details here (including the backstory of how I first learned about them).
September Surcee Swap 2021
The Gameplan:
Step One: Complete THIS FORM by Friday, September 17th if you want to participate.
Step Two: Send along your $1 (one dollar) to our Surcee Swap Charity donation to qualify for a swap partner. I’m will be taking your $1 commitment contribution, combining them and sending along to Duke Children’s Hospital in memory my cousin Ashley. (Note: we spent a lot of time last swap tracking people down and reminding them about their swap partners and we had some friends not get boxes after sending them. I’m hoping this will cut down on some of the backend work. If now isn’t a great time for you to participate, don’t fret, there will be more chances in the coming months. You can sign up for the next one!)
Step Three: You will get your swap partner’s info by Monday, September 20th.
Step Four: Use the info to gather a box full of treats (total value: $15-$20) and package them up. There isn’t a rule of thumb for what this looks like. To make it a little easier when sending out info we aren’t doing questions this time but feel free to email your swap partner to get to know them. Take a peek at their IG or their Pinterest boards. Ask them questions. Get to know them. Perhaps a cute fall mug for someone who loves coffee. A fun fall nail polish for someone who loves beauty products. Candy and treats are always a good idea. Remember: It’s not about quantity of things. I, for one, would much rather receive a new Essie gel polish, file, sweet treat and a handwritten note than a box full of stuff I won’t love and use.
Step Four: Ship your Surcee Swap box out by or before September 27th! I love shipping things via PirateShip with my kitchen scales and a tape measure (for the box). Depending on size and shape, USPS Flat Rate boxes are also handy.
I do hope that this swapping of love and happiness in small paper packages tied up with string (or at least sealed with tape and a few stamps) spreads a bit of joy during this cozy fall season.
xo,
KNW
PS: A few things you might consider asking your new swap BFF – Pumpkin or Apple? Spooky or Cozy? Favorite Color? Favorite Fall scent? Favorite Candy? Salty or Sweet? Favorite hobbies? Allergies? Happy Swapping.
